Tempus Fugit - Time Flees

Sed fugit interea fugit irreparabile tempus, singula dum capti circumvectamur amore* (Virgil)

Maestro,

The challenge that causes us to do this and remain true to details is in fact that time flees. You left us 30 years ago in a desert of unsubstantial entertainment and indifference. Only a handful of devoted followers and researchers this side of the ocean knew about your exsistence and cared to share your legacy - your absence was hardly noticed by the media and people, who should know. A long dry spell followed until light was set upon your remarkable destiny, a documentary collecting bits and pieces about your life and career added details to the picture of a unique artist and human being. That is like it ought to be, however, details are still missing, but your name and legacy is now known, even to new generations, that is even better. But, as said, time flees - we will continue to add missing details to the picture as we find them so that future generations will keep remembering your name and legacy with enlightened souls and hearts full of true, substantial joy.

* "But meanwhile it flees: time flees irretrievably, while we wander around, prisoners of our love of detail."

Thanks Jo for remembering this special day 30 years ago. Let's spread our passion for Oscar Alemán and keep his music alive.
